Lisa Garry
Deputy Secretary of Community Services
Lisa M. Garry serves as Deputy Secretary of Community Services for the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS), which oversees Pre-Adjudication Services, Community Supervision, and the Resource Office.
Lisa has an extensive work portfolio that combines public sector, community, and independent consulting experience. Before joining DJS, Lisa served as a Policy Director with the Center for Children’s Law and Policy (CCLP) in Washington, DC. Her work on racial disparities in the juvenile justice system has been recognized by both the MacArthur Foundation and the Annie E. Casey Foundation with the 2012 DMC Champion of Change Award and the 2017 JDAI Distinguished System Leadership Award, respectively.
Lisa earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Baltimore and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
Sherika Shnider
Chief Operating Officer of Centralized Services
Sherika (Sheri) Shnider, Esq., serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Centralized Services, where she helps to fulfill the Department's mission for community-based programming and partnerships. The position directly supports Deputy Secretary Garry with a work portfolio that directs and manages statewide centralized operations, personnel, crisis management reporting, and change management and reform strategies.
Sheri earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from George Washington University.
Olusola (Sola) Ogunranti
Executive Director of Safety Services (YESS)
Olusola (Sola) Ogunranti serves as the Executive Director of Safety Services (YESS), where he oversees statewide Community Detention, Reporting Centers, Shelter Care, Police Liaison Unit, and the Thrive Academy program. Before serving as Executive Director, Sola served as the Regional Director of Baltimore City DJS Community Services and the Director of Community Detention Operations, where he supported the implementation of the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative and the operation of the Community Detention and GPS Program for each region. He has served in various other capacities at the Department, including Juvenile Detention Alternative Initiative Coordinator and Case Management Specialist Supervisor.
Olusola received his bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership and Communication from Wright State University.
Derek Getic
Executive Director of Supervision Services
Derek Getic serves as the Executive Director of Community Services for the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services, where he leads the work of intake, pre-adjudication, probation, and aftercare supervision for three regions (Capital South, Eastern Shore, and Western). Derek has served in various roles in DJS residential and community services over the last 27 years. Before this role, he served as Regional Director of the Western Region, where his passionate advocacy and expertise in multidisciplinary partnerships have earned him a stellar reputation both internally and externally. Derek has spoken in the areas of the Crossover Youth Program Model and disparate contact, human trafficking, and rural juvenile justice strategies, most noticeably for the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) and the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ).
Derek has a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology from Shippensburg University.
Delmonica Hawkins
Executive Director of Community Services (Central Region and Baltimore City)
Delmonica Hawkins serves as the Executive Director of Community Services (Central and Baltimore City) for the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS), where she leads the work of intake, pre-adjudication, probation, and aftercare supervision for Baltimore City and the Central Region. Delmonica has served in various roles within DJS Community Services over the last 28 years. Delmonica has progressive leadership experience in juvenile justice and other public services. She has demonstrated success leading multi-county operations, proven capacity to lead geographically dispersed teams, managing complex juvenile justice operations, and leading diverse professional teams. Her work foundation includes problem-solving, strengthening diversion, and ensuring that community-based interventions effectively meet the challenges and provide supports and opportunities for DJS youth and families.
Delmonica has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
