The Alfred D. Noyes Children's Center (Noyes) opened in 1977 and was named after a judge who served on the juvenile court in Montgomery County in the 1970's. Noyes, formerly co-ed, is a female-only facility that provides secure detention services to 29 female youth primarily between the ages of 12-18 who are waiting to go to court or be placed in a treatment facility.

Noyes primarily serves youth from across the state of Maryland.

Noyes provides dietary, medical, educational and counseling services as well as space for recreation. In addition to receiving services, youth residing at Noyes attend school in the facility year round, five days a week for six hours a day.
