In 1999, to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the founding of America’s first juvenile court, a non-profit published a book called Second Chances about 25 people who got in trouble with the law when they were kids and turned their lives around with the help and confidentiality protections of the juvenile justice system. One of the people profiled, with his permission, was Senator Alan Simpson who died earlier this month.
