Mountain View

Mountain View Facility

In June 2020, the Mountain View facility opened as a staff secure, six-bed, committed juvenile facility for girls. Located in Western Maryland, on the campus of Backbone Mountain Youth Center, the facility was named by the youth from the former J. DeWeese Carter Center, which recently closed.

Mountain View provides dietary, medical, educational, and counseling services. In addition to receiving services, girls placed at Mountain View attend school in the facility year round, five days a week for six hours a day. The residents will also have access to a college program in Garrett County, share ample recreation space, and participate in off-ground outings.
