​​Western Maryland's Child Center

The Western Maryland Children's Center (WMCC) opened in September 2003. Western Maryland Children's Center is a secure detention facility for youth waiting to go to court or be placed in a treatment program. It has the capacity to serve female youth from across the state of Maryland.

Western Maryland Children's Center provides dietary, medical, educational and counseling services as well as space for recreation. In addition to receiving services, youth placed at Western Maryland Children's Center attend school in the facility year round, five days a week for six hours a da​y.

On March 4, 2024, WMCC opened the PEACE (Progressing Every Day and Changing in Every Way​) Academy which is a hardware-secure, six-bed treatment program.

Updated Visitation Procedures:

In addition to regularly scheduled facility visitation, non-routine visitation requires a 24-hour RSVP to the Case Manager and cannot interfere with school.​​
